Potluck Supper and Speaker at St. John’s Ida Church

There is an event coming up for those interested in local history, and we hope you’ll be able to attend.
This Saturday October 19, a special event at St. John’s Ida Church, begins at 5:30 pm with a potluck supper – a great way to meet or re-connect with friends and neighbours in the community.
Following the supper is a special presentation, “St. John’s Ida and the Anglican Vision for Upper Canada”.
The guest speaker for the evening is the Rev. Dr. Alan Hayes, Professor of the History of Christianity at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto.
The Anglican Church played a key role in the lives of settlers here from the very first decades.
Both St. John’s at Ida and St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery and Chapel on what is now the Zion Line celebrate their bi-centennial this year.
Come and find out more about the history that shaped this area.
The church is located on County Road 10, north of the village of Cavan.

St Johns Ida Anglican Church

We are a community church in the Anglican Tradition, located in the beautiful Cavan Hills, 15 minutes west of Peterborough. We are the only Church in the hamlet of Ida, which is in the township of Cavan Monaghan. Being a “community” church means that we are a church for the entire community, not just those with an Anglican background. A significant number of us have come from other Christian traditions, or none, to be part of the church family here at Ida.

We have been “Celebrating Jesus for 200 years”!
