It’s almost Heritage Week! Your Historical Society invites you to celebrate with us, Friday, February 21, 7:00 pm at Millbrook’s Legion Hall, when we’ll highlight Local Living Legends – people and events that have contributed to the character and quality of life here in our township over the past few decades. Join the conversation as Robert Winslow shines the spotlight on George Sheppard; recall with Joanne Rowland and JoEllen Brydon how our social conscience gave rise to the Give-a-Hoot Café that brought first-class performers to an Old Millbrook School classroom. Revisit the Star Wars protests of the late 1980s and the first Earth Day festivities. Remember back to the days of the Millbrook Gallery, the beginnings of the 4th Line Theatre, the saving of the Old Millbrook School from demolition. Never a dull moment! Join the conversation and the celebration. All are welcome. And there will be cake!
You are also invited to the first of a series of regularly scheduled sessions to learn how to navigate the Ancestry program at the Millbrook Branch of Cavan Monaghan Libraries. This program is available on the libraries’ computers so that we can research family histories. The first session will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 1:00-2:30 pm, and on the fourth Wednesday of every month at that time. We are grateful to CM Libraries and their knowledgeable and helpful staff for partnering on this initiative.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
