Topic: Creating a Heritage Conservation District in Downtown Millbrook
Please join the Millbrook and Cavan Historical Society for a community discussion and information session regarding the implementation of a Heritage Conservation District.
We have seen many communities, such as Port Hope, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and others benefit from implementing a heritage conservation district that aims to preserve the unique architecture and character of a given area. We have invited special guests to answer questions about this subject, provide insight on the benefits and drawbacks, and dispell common misconceptions about what this would mean for owners of buildings and businesses in the area. Gain a better understanding and provide your thoughts and input at this community forum. All are welcome.
Dinner will be through the Royal Canadian Legion; they will be cooking up hamburgers, hot dogs, and other items on the barbeque. Coffee, tea, and sweets will be provided by the MCHS. The Legion only accepts cash, we recommend each attendee bring at least $15 cash to cover their meal. The bar will also be open during the event so you can have soft drinks, beer, wine, or spirits.
Please email us to RSVP for the dinner portion so we can ensure the Legion is well prepared: millbrookcavanhs@gmail.com or complete the form online: https://forms.gle/kvnsd15a4MfD33t38
After the Community Forum, please stay for the brief Annual General Meeting from the Millbrook and Cavan Historical Society. Members in good standing will have voting rights and we will be taking nominations for the Board and Executive at this time.

In celebration of the wonderfully full life of our champion of Millbrook history, the family of Mary Ridge invites everyone whose lives Mary touched to come Saturday, October 28, 2-4 pm, to the Millbrook Legion Hall, 9 King St.E., to share stories and enjoy a time of remembering. Mary left us in June, 2020, during the pandemic shutdown, so it is ‘high time’ we got together to talk about her many contributions to our own lives, whether through local community involvement including marches, protests, and community Teas at the Manor, or go-karting, fishing trips and teaching nephews to drive. All welcome.
